Meet Wanda Ryan

Wanda Ryan, based in Toronto, Canada, is a seasoned professional dedicated to driving positive change and inspiring others through the realms of music and entertainment. With over thirty years of leadership experience spanning various sectors, including Marketing, Business Development, Sales, Media and Public Relations, Wanda brings a wealth of expertise to her endeavors.

Having kickstarted her career in the fashion industry in the early 90s, Wanda’s journey led her to modeling and photography for esteemed publications, trade shows, and promotional ventures. Building on her foundation, she furthered her education by earning certificates in Small Business Management and Professional Selling from Centennial College in Toronto, where she remains an esteemed alumna.

Transitioning into the realms of storytelling and film, Wanda delved into songwriting, short stories, and photography, culminating in successful commercial projects and advertising campaigns.

Wanda’s Journey: Nurturing Entrepreneurial Spirit from Youth

Wanda’s passion for the creative arts, evident since her youth, paved the way for her remarkable journey. Despite being recognized as a talented emerging artist with a promising career in the arts, she explored diverse opportunities that ultimately shaped her path.

In 1984, while studying at Meadowvale Secondary High School in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, Wanda embarked on her first entrepreneurial venture in grade 10. Balancing academics with part-time work at McDonald’s, she actively participated in a youth organization under Junior Achievement of Peel Inc., mentored by Simpson Sears Canada. This platform aimed to impart business management skills to young students.

Engaging in weekly sessions, Wanda and her peers immersed themselves in the intricacies of business operations. They assumed various roles within their student-run company, conceptualizing, producing, and successfully marketing a unique product called the boot jack, achieving remarkable sales of over 400 units.

In her role as a sales representative, Wanda embraced door-to-door sales, contributing significantly to the company’s success. These experiences, coupled with friendly competition among youth-led enterprises, underlined crucial milestones in Wanda’s early entrepreneurial journey, instilling practical knowledge and an entrepreneurial mindset.

Post-graduation in 1985, Wanda embarked on a diverse career journey spanning various industries such as hospitality, clubs, restaurants, steel manufacturing, food manufacturing, telemarketing, and retail. Each venture contributed uniquely to her professional growth, highlighting her spirit of exploration and adaptability.

Wanda thrived as an Executive Account Manager in the Direct Marketing & Mail Industry. She played a pivotal role as the main liaison and customer service representative for prestigious clients like Accenture, Publishers Clearing House, National Geographic, and Enbridge Gas, among other Tier1 accounts.

Her responsibilities were multifaceted, including managing inventory, quoting prices, approving invoices, scheduling, project evaluation, and providing service recommendations. Wanda skillfully oversaw production lines, coordinated mail delivery timelines, and collaborated with various departments, Canada Post, printing companies and sales teams, often traveling to meet clients in Ontario and New York.

With exceptional written and oral communication skills, Wanda effectively engaged with all levels of staff, implementing strategies focused on client retention, organizing meetings, delivering presentations, attending trade shows, and preparing detailed reports and spreadsheets for clients and senior management.

Wanda’s tenure at Postlinx exemplified her expertise in nurturing client relationships, streamlining operations, and delivering exceptional customer service in the Direct Marketing & Mail Industry.

In 2008, she established MusicWRKS Entertainment and MusicWRKS for the Healing Heart Inc., showcasing her entrepreneurial spirit and passion for talent booking. MusicWRKS for the Healing Heart was highly recognized in 2009 for their contributions within the health care industry, specifically for their work with The Credit Calley Hospital Foundation receiving a prestigious award for helping to raise $400,000 with their Lifetime of Care campaign in providing a caliber of entertainment for their Salute! Gala and providng monthly entertainment in the main lobby.

In 2019-Present, Wanda founded Dandelions of Courage Entertainment Inc., leveraging her business acumen to support artists and provide top-notch entertainment services, from event planning to public relations. Her dedication earned her company a silver trophy in 2023 in the Niagara Region, solidifying her reputation in the industry and fostering key partnerships with renowned organizations and artists.

Currently, as a Partner, Producer, Marketing & Creative Director and radio host of A Slice of Canada Media alongside Jonva Ven, Wanda continues to excel in the entertainment, media, film, and broadcasting domains.

A Slice of Canada radio series has been featured across the airwaves since October 2021-Present with our UK family at Radio Wigwam & our Canada Family at Maple Music Café in Canada since 2023 where we are entering our third season featuring the best independent artists across Canada

Wanda’s dedication to humanitarian efforts shines through her involvement in the Terry Fox Run for Cancer research, a cause close to her heart. Since 2016, she has been actively supporting this initiative, contributing to keeping Terry Fox’s legacy alive.

At The Graphic Attic since 1989, Barb’s creative genius has flourished, sculpting designs for over 30 years. Her imprint spans from crafting online identities for music educators to designing captivating CD covers for bands, exemplifying a blend of artistry and functionality.

With over 30 years of experience in creative design and development, Barb Keck, the Founder and sole owner of Graphic Attic since 1989, has established a remarkable portfolio. She has crafted online presences for music teachers, designed CD covers for bands, and created administrative and management systems while offering training and support.

Barb’s expertise in creative direction, design, project management, and analytics has been pivotal in branding, promoting, and enhancing online visibility. Her ability to collaborate with diverse project team members, such as writers, photographers, and web developers, has been a key element in the success of projects at Graphic Attic.

Barb Keck’s leadership shines through in her role as President and 10-year board member of the Music Competition. She implemented strategies to streamline online registration and scheduling systems, benefiting music students and enhancing their educational experiences.

For 12 years, Barb has transformed how music festival coordinators manage competitions and festivals through online registration and management services. This cloud-based solution allows for efficient scheduling and adjudication, even for virtual events.

In her many years of experience with the Digital Music Community, Barb Keck has fostered connections and collaboration within the industry. This platform serves as a resource hub, bringing together a diverse range of companies and individuals to facilitate growth and networking opportunities.
