Lessons, Videos and Documents
Online learning has become very familiar with everyone around the world. What most people think of is sitting in their bedroom with a cup of hot coffee waiting for the rest of the class to join the Zoom call. While that is not wrong, there are a lot of different ways that you can learn online. Many activities that we go through as part of our routine are full of information that we constantly absorb.
One of the most common ways we learn online is by watching videos
A website like YouTube is filled with every type of information anyone could ever need. This comes in most handy when we have tasks like finally finishing your English report that’s due tomorrow or when you procrastinate finishing your English report that’s due tomorrow. Falling into the rabbit hole of knowledgeable videos is what makes us human and how we feed our curiosity, increasing our brain capacity and learning as much as we can. TikTok is a social media platform that has grown tremendously which involves users creating videos full of content with tips ranging from how to clean your dishes in the most effective way to learning how to enter the stock market. Not only are these videos viewed by millions, but they are also shared to all the viewers’ family and friends for them to learn what they just learned. Convince is a perk that TikTok carries highly over other platforms as many social media users don’t necessarily have the time to watch 10-20 minute videos on YouTube which benefits TikTok as the majority of videos being 60 seconds or shorter. Although, there is an option to create a 3 minute video which is still miniscule compared to YouTube’s 10+ minute videos. Overall, videos are an excellent way that we learn online.
Speaking of learning from others online…
There are many applications that can be found on websites and even as apps on your phone. Skillshare is a website that allows users to create an account and browse hundreds of courses on any topic they can think of. These courses include videos, texts, documents, and multiple different ways that one can learn a new skill. All of the courses are submitted by other users and many people become well known in the community for submitting high quality courses. You can join Skillshare for free, but there are paid plans that give you access to more courses and features that the free version does not include. When thinking about learning online with your phone, the first thing that comes to mind is learning a new language which is as easy as ever with apps like Duolingo and Babbel. These apps give bite-size daily lessons that help users start from scratch with learning a language and will increase with difficulty as more lessons are learned. With a continued streak of these lessons, you will be speaking a new language fluently in no time. The only catch is that both of these apps come with a price for entry. So, make sure you don’t forget about useful applications that can make learning online a lot easier.
A different way of learning from others
Now that we have gone through the ways that we learn online that aren’t the first to come to mind, let’s talk about the most obvious way; virtual classes. Without the need of a vehicle to travel to physical classes, these classes give everyone with an internet connection to join sessions that are happening live and personal to learn all types of subjects. This allows for people to share their knowledge from anywhere to anyone in the world. You can find communities that are dedicated to finding and posting virtual classes that you can join and experience with a click of a button. Everyone is familiar with Zoom and its connection with online classes and luckily you don’t have to be a college student to get involved.
You learn something new every day and everyone should keep this mentality to help society continue to grow. With the convenience of having a minicomputer in your pocket (being your cell phone) there is nothing stopping you from learning online in an instant.
